Everything has been going fairly well lately. My Uncle is still in Gulfport, MS, where he is continuing to work at Memorial Hospital. Our family is doing well, except for my oldest daughter has been running a fever of 100 and has been sick for the past couple days. She is starting to get somewhat better as we have received medication from her pediatrition to help with it.
Other than that, I really haven’t been doing too much other than work, school and playing Unreal Tournmanet 2004. Our youngest daughter’s first birthday is at the end of the month and the wife has been trying to get things ready for it. I’ll be taking plenty of pictures and putting them in the album for all the family members to see, so check back towards the end of the month for them.
I have done a little bit more with the main site, but still have a ways to go. I have posted the results of my garden in the album, so you should check those out. Also, new pictures from recent events have been uploaded as well for family members to view.

I still haven’t heard any more news from my Uncle from the last time he called us, which was a couple days ago. I am sure he is still safe at this point though. Hopefully tonight we will here more from him.
Things have been pretty busy with the Last One Standing clan this week and looks like it will be the same for next week as well. We won our first match on TWL earlier in the week and have another one to play this Saturday.
Fall semester has started up as well and I already have a few homework assignments to do. I think it should be smooth sailing for the most part due to the fact its spread out over several months instead of one or two like Summer semester was. I am still rather upset that I won’t be graduating this Fall, but nothing I can do about it now.
Anyway, I plan to get some more done soon with the site and so forth now that I have a little more free time at home. As for the family, they are doing well. My wife had a couple gallstone attacks the other day, but it is mostly her fault as she isn’t exaclty following the low fatr diet as instructed by her doctor until the gallbladder can be removed. I think she went through enough pain though to take it seriously now. Lastly, I hope the have some more pictures up soon in the Album of the result of my garden and of recent events. So, be sure check back in a couple days.

My Grandmother flew out from Gulfport, MS the day before the hurricane hit luckily, while my Uncle stayed behind to work at Memorial Hospital. The house they lived in was within a couple miles off the coast and needless to say was under ~7 feet of water when he visited it the day after. All they’re belongings (cars, clothes, etc.) are ruined and everything gone except for what they have on them now. The house will be unlivable and everything. A couple days ago, we filed the claim with their insurance, but it’ll be months before they have a house again.
My Uncle said Memorial Hospital had windows blown out all over the place and water reached the second floor. Emergency power was gone after a couple days and there is no phone service other than cell phones, which are sporadic at best. At this point we are waiting for the hospital to release him from work so we can attempt to bring him here with us. He said “The whole coast looks like a bomb hit it. It’s worst than Camille by a long shot.”
Anyway, its sad for them as they have lived in that house for a very long time (through Camille and everything). I just hope we can go pick him up somehow and get him here with us soon.

Well, I have some bad news. It turns out I won’t be graduating this Fall like I had planned. Two of the three classes that I needed were being offered for Fall Semester and I had hoped that I could find a professor to do an independent study for the third class. However, the professor that normally does the class said she didn’t want to do it. As a result, I’ll have to wait and take the class in the Spring Semester. Its a real let down too, as I planned to just be done with it all at the end of this year. =(
Anyway, last week was pretty much a doozy as I was in the hospital from Wednesday afternoon until late Friday night with my wife. Early Wendnesday afternoon, my wife started throwing up and having breathing problems (shortness of breath). At first the doctors thought it was simply a case of severe heart burn, so my wife was released that night. But on my way driving her home, she said I needed to pull over as she was going to vomit. I promply complied and she basically threw up, on the side of the road, all of the IV fluids and little bit of apple juice she had drank before we left the hospital. Afterwards, she said she was feeling better and wanted to just go home and get some sleep as it was nearly 2:00 AM EST.
That morning we woke up around 10:00 AM EST. After trying to drink some water and eat something, she started feeling sick like she did the day before. A couple vomits later, she said we needed to go back to the hospital because she was having shortness of breath again. We arrived there around noon and she was put in a room. After hours of waiting, a night in the hospital, and several tests later (CAT scan, EKG, blood tests, sonogram, etc.), the doctors found that she had gallstones and would have to have her gallbladder removed. Due to the fact she is pregnant, the doctors have put her on a low fat diet and hopefully she can have the baby before it becomes an emergency to have her gallbladder removed. The baby is expected in early November and she has been doing fine so far this week.
On another note, since we made it back later Friday night and the wife was well, I was able to play in the finals for the UT2004 ONS Mixer Tournament this past Sunday. I am happy to say we won and were the champions of the tournament (not that it even really matters). It was good fun and I got to meet some other folks who play the game. This upcoming Monday, August 29th, Last One Standing has their first TWL Ladder Match at 9:30 PM EST. It should be good fun.

Its been a relaxing couple of weeks since Summer Semester has ended. I’ve been playing a lot of Unreal Tournament 2004 and its been a lot of fun. Soon I won’t be able to play quite as much due to Fall Semester though. Our team, S&M, has been undefeated so far in the Onslaught Mixer and if we win the next match tomorrow night we go to the championship match.
Work has been so “blah” lately that I really dread having to come in as most of the work I do is just so boring. I guess you could say I am overqualified for the job, but it pays the bills and I’ll keep sticking with it in hopes of something better coming along with the company eventually. If I complete my degree this Fall as planned and there is still no where for me to move in the company that would better suit my interest and skills, then I’ll just have to start looking elsewhere.
I mowed the lawn yesterday and it didn’t take too long. It was cloudy so the heat wasn’t an issue. I’ll probably need to mow it again this weekend though as the weeds are starting to get bad in certain areas.
