Yesterday was the last day of Summer Semester for me. Thankfully I passed Linear Algebra with a C and German History Through Film with a B. Now I only have three classes left to complete in the Fall. It will be more work I am sure, but at least it will be spanned over more time versus one or two months. If I end up passing all those classes as well, then I will finally graduate with a B.S. in Computer Science. YAY!
Our trip to Florida went pretty good as well and everyone was doing fine. This was the first time we have really traveled with both the kids and it was a little rough on them and us as well. Over time, I suppose they will get used to traveling. Its just hard on them especially when they have to stay in they’re car seats for the entire trip unless we make a stop. I’ll post pictures of the trip for the rest of the family to see sometime this weekend hopefully.
Earlier this afternoon, I went and saw Stealth. It was a good action movie. The dialouge was no better than say Star Wars: Episode III, but the action sequences and visuals made it worth watching. It also made some good points in regards to robots instead of humans fighting wars and vice versa, which usually you don’t see many actions movies trying to make you stop and think. Overall, the action sequences are worth the matinee price, buts its really one of those movies you can wait to rent. Tomorrow, I’m going to see The Island and I expect it to be a pretty good movie.
And since the Unreal Tournament 2004 Onslaught Mixer was pushed back a week it looks like I will get to play in it. I think our team has a real chance to at least place in the top 3 teams. Even if we don’t win, it’ll be lots of fun for the games that we do get to play.

Its been a long couple of weeks for me, but the month is still not over. I will get a nice break over this weekend as we are going to Florida to visit some relatives for a couple of days. However, I might end up having to work on a paper in one of my classes while I am down there. Thursday of next week is the finals for both my classes, too. Luckily I was able to get off Wednesday and Thursday from work in order to study for them.
The garden is doing fairly well. We had our first squash, cucumber, and green beans the other night. I’ll try to get some pictures when I get time next week of what it looks like now. It’s turning out really well so far and I pretty much got rid of all the weeds in it earlier this week. I finally mowed the grass as well, which was a pain because it had grown so much. Though, the clippings are great mulch for the garden and to help control the weeds.
Unreal Tournament 2004 is becoming more fun each night. I have started to aquire the skills I had back before my break from it. Plus, I’m back in Last One Standing clan again and it looks like I will be heading up the ONS Division and rebuilding it. We will be holding tryouts Sunday, July 31 from 8:00 PM – 12:00 AM for those looking to join the clan and can find us on LoS ONS Server during that time.

The past couple of weeks are really starting to take their toll on me. I been pretty much at work every day for the past couple of weeks and I still have this week to go. Not to mention, I have gotten behind in my Linear Algebra class and have to take two tests. I keep telling myself it’ll all pay off in the end, but its hard to believe that at times.
Late at night I have been able to play some more Unreal Tournament 2004 and am getting some of the skills back that I had with the game. Hopefully once the school semester is over and work has calmed down some, I can participate in a Onslaught Mixer Tournament. I have already signed up, but the question remains if I can make the match dates that are set and so forth.
Its been raining a lot here, which is good for the garden. Of course, I haven’t had any time to work in it, because when I get home from work its usually dark. At some point during this week, I have to mow our yard, too. Either way I’m down and out and there just isn’t too much to look forward to. I’ll just be glad when the end of this month comes, because my plate is full and everything needed to be done yestereday. Anyway, I hope the light at the end of the tunnel will be very bright.

At the end of last week, I was able to see a sneak preview of Fantastic Four and I have to say it was great. Its not a serious movie and the plot isn’t deep or anything, but it builds the basic foundations for the characters and how the Fantastic Four comes about. It is up there with Batman Begins and War of the Worlds.
Also over the weekend, I finally got around to installing Windows XP Professional and moving away from Windows 2000. Yea, I know I’m late but I wanted to be sure all the bugs were worked out of XP before I moved on. Anyway, I installed Unreal Tournament 2004 again. Its great to be playing and I have missed so much. Evidenly, the members of the clan I was in (Last One Standing) thought I had died, because I did pretty much disappear with a trace. Never did I think that I would be missed like that and I have to say I made a mistake doing that. I suppose its because Unreal Tournament 2004 was the first game that I was involved in like that. Live and learn.
My fourth of July was a good one for the most part. We did fireworks with the family like we normally do each year at this time and it was fun, but with one exception. A neighbor complained and was being royally grumpy because he said he “needed to rest from a broken foot”. Regardless of the fact that others around him were doing fireworks, he decided to single us out. I’m sure it has something to do with the history between them and my parents, but that’s another story. So basically instead of being petty and making things worse, we ended up moving to a subdivsion that was just starting to be constructed. Here we were able to enjoy the fireworks in peace and didn’t have to worry about it.
School is in full swing now for me, too. The second class has started, but luckily both classes will end at the end of July. I have some catching up to do with my Linear Algebra, but all in good time. The first movie we had to watch for German History Through Film was Effi Briest and it has to be one of the worst movies I have seen. How movies like this are considered important to education and so forth is beyond me. Instead of admitting it was poor plot and storyline, educational institutions would rather defend it and say its not “Hollywood” and thats why you don’t like it. It’s a lame excuse either way. I just hope the movies get better as the class progresses.
Today, also marks the begining of having to work eleven days straight at 12 hours each. Its going to be a long one that’s for sure, but will pay off in the end. I just hope I get enough time to relax at night and get some decent hours of sleep in.

War of the Worlds was a great movie and one of the best remakes I have seen. Even that last tid bit in narrative and the plot throughout stayed mostly true to the original. Most people though who have not seen the original or know the history of War of the Worlds might find the ending very anti-climatic.
As for Land of the Dead, its was a mindless action flick is all. No further story development or anything other than the zombies are evolving and learning, which is pretty much what Day of the Dead showed. Save your money and rent it instead.
Batman Begins was great too and I only had two problems with the movie. One, the whole microwave thing should technicially have killed all the humans too if it was supposed to vaporize water like that. Two, Christian Bale over did the voice while in Batman form. He should have just talked normal instead of trying to deepen his voice like that.
Tonight, I get to go see Fantastic Four. Looking forward to it. =)
